Femslash Review Fest

Not sure what's going on with LJ with the new servers and all that. I'm not planning on going anywhere else, but just in case: I'm asra on Dreamwidth and smithkingsley on Twitter and Tumblr. If I haven't added you there, please add me so I know where to find you.
20th: An AU fic (coffee shop, canon-divergence, etc.)
I thought this one was going to be tough because I don't generally read AUs, but
merlin_holidays is making this review very easy for me. *g*
Just Stand Still by Anon, Mithian/Elena. THE AUTHOR HAD ME FROM "GILMORE GIRLS AU". So much love for this one, with Mithian as the backwards-baseball-cap-wearing diner owner and Elena as the quirky, adorable coffee addict.
21st: A crossover ship.
Had to search a bit for a crossover fic to rec: yay, more excuses to read fic! To narrow down the options, I picked -- who else? -- Dana Scully. Teach Us To Care And Not To Care by
actonbell (best username ever, amirite?), Clarice Starling and Dana Scully, pre-slash/friendship. It's set some time after 'Never Again' in the XF universe. Summary: I wrote this way back in 2008, when I couldn't find any fic where Clarice Starling met Dana Scully (who clearly seemed inspired by her). I really wanted them to meet (and talk about something other than Hannibal. Or Mulder). (It's okay, Mulder. We still love you.)
22nd: A fic by your favorite author(s).
Love's Just Another Rhyme by
lady_ragnell, BBC Merlin. Ygraine/Nimueh hooker!fic! <333 Nimueh gets a call from a woman who's anything but her typical client.
23rd: A multi-chapter fic.
I'm cheating a bit on this one because I know it's meant to be for long fics, but I couldn't resist reccing this snapshot-style Carol/Therese fic: Some Places We Went Before We Died by Anon, written for Yuletide 2016. "Everything comes full circle. Be grateful it was sooner rather than later. You'll think it harsh of me to say so, but no explanation I offer will satisfy you. Please don't be angry when I tell you that you seek resolutions and explanations because you're young. But you will understand this one day. And when it happens, I want you to imagine me there to greet you, our lives stretched out ahead of us, a perpetual sunrise."
24th: A fic that has three or fewer top-level comments.
Song of the Sea by
anaraine, PotC, Tia/Elizabeth (with background Elizabeth/Will). There is a heartbeat. A pulse and throb that reverberates through her bones. A song that sweetly calls her down to where the waves lapped at the dock.
25th: A fic for a rare ship.
My absence will remind you of by
naraht, The X-Files, Melissa Scully/Samantha Mulder. This one is based on one of my favourite AU premises -- that Fox was abducted and Scully and Samantha are FBI partners. While Scully is in the hospital, Melissa and Samantha share their grief.
26th: A fic for your OTP.
A Heartbreaking Impossibility, BBC Merlin, by
lise, was my gift for Femslash Exchange 2013, and it's still one of my favourite Gwen/Morgana fics. Uther's ward needed a lady's maid. Morgana needed something else. Gwen is trying to figure out what she needs, somewhere in the middle.
27th: One of your own fics, if you have! (Then come over here and review everyone’s stuff.)
Picking from one's own fic is always difficult, so I went with a rarepair. Road Tripping, BBC Merlin, Annis/Morgana. Sometimes, someone else’s company is even better than one’s own.
28th: A smut fic.
I thought this one was going to be tough too, but then I remembered this excellently kinky Dom!Meg/sub!Jo fic I read some years ago. Took a bit of digging to find it again. ride the line, Supernatural, Meg Masters/Jo Harvelle. Mind the warnings.
29th: A holiday-themed fic OR a fic from your first fandom.
PotC wasn't my ~first fandom per se, but I don't need anything more than the flimsiest excuse to read PotC femslash, so. Plural, Possessive by
livii, Anamaria/Elizabeth. Because the only thing that can make Baroque-period interracial femslash better = grammar metaphors. It can't be called love, but they are raw and honest and hopeful and dirty liars; they are plural, possessive, adrift.
30th: A happy fic.
Alas, I can't do 'happy' happy. But I love this quietly gorgeous fic by
magnetic_pole: Like Water on the Moon, HP, Alice Longbottom/Amelia Bones. In her mind's eye, Moody's leg is right again, and he walks up the path with a bunch of flowers under his arm and a spring in his step.
31st: Whatever you wish!
IDK if the fest is just for fic recs, but in the spirit of being piratical and ignoring The Code, here's some gorgeous Anamaria/Elizabeth art by the Theban Band.
P.S.: This bookmark is made of awesome.
